Elder Howlett Wayne Strayhorn was an Assistant Pastor here at the Word of Life Church of God in Christ. Elder Strayhorn was in good and regular standing as an ordained Elder of the Texas Western Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, under the Presiding Prelate Bishop J.O. Lawson. Elder Strayhorn was advisor to the Pastor’s Aide Committee; dedicated leader of the Men’s Ministry; member of the Men’s Choir; counselor to many, worship leader, teacher, preacher, and prayer warrior. His testimony and life were an inspiration to all who know him. He will continue to be an encouragement to others eventhough he isn’t physical here with us. His love for God and his ministry will continue through his wife and children. He served as a Federal Senior Specialist Correctional Officer at F.C.I. La Tuna Federal Prison. Elder Strayhorn served in the U.S. Army for many years also as a part of Operation Desert Strom. He is survived by his loving wife, Monique Strayhorn; Children, Deseriann, DeJon and Destiny; brothers, Fredrick, Michael and James; sisters, Wescelia and Lena.
