In Loving Memory of Deseriann “Deseri” Shantell Strayhorn

A 2009 graduate of Franklin High School, Deseriann “Deseri” pronounced: (dez-uh-ray) was born July 11, 1989 to Monique (Gates) Strayhorn and the late Wayne Strayhorn. Deseri was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia at the age of 6 months and has since been battling the disease ever since, valiantly. Having spent most of her life in and out of the hospital and in constant pain at times, she is current…ly in the hospital and in need of a liver transplant. She needs your prayers.

Her father was a US Army Veteran who passed away from cancer in 2006. His dream was for his daughter to be healed.

A wonderful dancer and former Miss Black El Paso (2010), Deseri’s bubbly personality is missed by her friends and family members.

Update: Deseriann passed away on the evening of Friday, October 28, 2011. She will be missed.

If you would like to contribute to the family, especially during this upcoming holiday season, please feel free to check her website at www.deseriann.com.

A tribute by Deseriann, her mother Monique and her little sister and brother

Deseriann is shown in this video with her mom, her little sister and at the end, her brother. This tribute was done in July 2007 by them to honor their father/husband who had passed away a year prior in July 2006. We miss you Elder Strayhorn and Deseri, we miss you too.
